Non-Cell Defining SSB (NCD-SSB)

5G & 6G Prime Membership Telecom

In 5G (NR - New Radio), a relevant term is "SIB" (System Information Block) and "SSB" (Synchronization Signal Block), which are part of the physical layer and the broadcast information that helps in the synchronization and system information acquisition by the user equipment (UE).

Synchronization Signal Block (SSB):

The SSB is a key element in the synchronization process within the 5G NR system. It consists of synchronization signals that UEs use to align their timing with the serving cell. The SSBs are transmitted periodically in the time and frequency domain.

System Information Block (SIB):

SIBs carry essential system information that UEs need to access and connect to the 5G network. These include information about cell identity, frequency bands, scheduling, and other configuration details.

It's worth noting that these terms are based on 3GPP specifications, and new terms or modifications to existing terms may have been introduced in subsequent releases or updates.
